How to catch crabs

Many people enjoy fishing and crabbing on the ocean. But most of them go home empty-handed because they know so little about the marine animals they are trying to catch.

If you want to catch crab, the best time to crabbing is late summer to early fall, in the morning or early evening. Many people do it for the mere fun of it, there are also some who catch crabs as a means of earning a living. Crawfish and crab fishermen use different ways to catch crab. The most common is to use a crab trap wire: a square or pyramidical shaped wire mesh box. Crab traps come in various shapes and sizes and most of them will catch some crabs under the right conditions. Crab traps should be made from high quality wire.

The crab trap is a very simple but quite effective device. When the trap is lowered to the bottom, the sides flap open, baring the trap’s mesh base with bait attached.
